Ok, fans of HD-DSLRs and the TV medical drama House, tonight's the night. From 8:00-9:01PM ET/PT, FOX will air the season finale of House which was shot entirely on the Canon EOS 5D Mark II and Canon EF lenses.

For those keeping score at home, this will mark the first time an entire network TV prime time drama has been filmed on an HD-DSLR. Canon's so excited about this, they issued a press release this morning congratulating the cast and crew of House on their accomplishment. (We're sure Hugh Laurie is touched by this gesture.)

Below is the release and to the right is an image of a 5D Mark II/Red Rock Micro rig set-up similar to the one used to shoot House.

We haven't really followed the show much in recent years but are definitely tuning in tonight to see how it looks.

LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y., May 17, 2010 — Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging, would like to congratulate the cast and crew from the hit series HOUSE on filming the entire season finale episode on the Canon EOS 5D Mark II. This crowning achievement marks the first network television prime time drama episode to be shot entirely on a Digital SLR camera, making it an industry-first.
 
In addition to shooting the episode on the Canon EOS 5D Mark II, Canon EF lenses were used for a complete Canon workflow for image capture. Recording every second of footage to compact flash cards, the crew for HOUSE took full advantage of a completely digital workflow and was able to complete filming the entire episode in just 10 days.
