PDN PhotoPlus Expo Adds Special Video Pavilion for 2009

New Video Pavilion to Support Converging Technologies and Exhibit Future Business Opportunities for Photographers

NEW YORK--PDN PhotoPlus International Conference + Expo, named “one of the top events in New York City” by Crain’s New York Business, will be adding a special Video Pavilion to this year's trade show. The new Video Pavilion offers manufacturers of video cameras, hardware, software and accessories an opportunity to showcase their products and services while providing trade show attendees with an inside look at the ever-changing landscape of the photographic industry and future business opportunities these converging industries present to photographers and videographers alike. Featured exhibitors are scheduled to include JVC Professional, Vimeo online video share site for pros and enthusiasts, and iDC Photo Video, manufacturer of video system accessories, and others.

“For the past 25 years, PDN PhotoPlus Expo has evolved to stay ahead of the changes and growing business applications in the photographic and visual communications industries,” explains Jeff McQuilkin, PDN PhotoPlus Expo Show Director. “The convergence of technologies in photography and video, along with new applications and business opportunities finds us evolving once again to include an exhibitor pavilion dedicated to video products. We anticipate tremendous interest among attendees and will continue to educate our audience about the future of photography through seminars, keynote presentations, and expert panel discussions,” McQuilkin added.

"Video continues to play an ever-increasing role in the lives of professional photographers and enthusiasts," says Lon Mass, vice president of sales and marketing, JVC Professional Video Products Division. "PhotoPlus Expo offers a great opportunity for JVC to showcase its products to a new audience that is ready to incorporate motion into their world of still images and help them build a new platform for sharing their vision with their clients and the world," Mr. Mass added.

"Vimeo is one of the highest quality video sharing sites, with a supportive community of professional content creators and video enthusiasts," says Dae Mellencamp, SVP and General Manager at Vimeo. "With the ongoing crossover of video and still photography, PhotoPlus Expo will allow us to reach a wider audience searching for high quality solutions in a community bound by excellence and passion for their craft."

"As a professional photographer and filmmaker, I understand how both mediums can work together and have used my experience in both areas to create interesting and creative options for my clients," says Bruce Dorn, a member of Canon's Explorer's of Light program, award-winning videographer and president of iDC Photo Video. "Beyond our photographic and video services, IDC Photo Video also manufactures camera and video accessories that offer solutions to creative professionals. Our ability to showcase our products at PhotoPlus Expo gives our product line access to a truly emerging market and positions us well with our target audience," adds Mr. Dorn.

The Video Pavilion at PhotoPlus Expo will be located on the trade show floor and give attendees of this year's show an opportunity to see the latest technologies available to help them incorporate video into their current client services. Cameras, accessories, online sharing, software, and other video system solutions will be on exhibit inside the Video Pavilion.
