PMA 2010: Pentax Has a Presence But No Booth at This Year's Imaging Show

Add Pentax to the list of major imaging companies that have a reduced presence at the PMA 2010 imaging trade show in Anaheim, CA this year.

Though Pentax is meeting with press and photo dealers both on and off-site during the show, the company does not have a booth at the Anaheim convention center.

Despite not having a booth, Pentax took part in today's PMA Sneak Peek, a press-only event held the day prior to the start of the trade show. Pentax had a table at the event which was packed with journalists and manufacturers offering a first-hand look at some of the products debuting at PMA tomorrow.

Pentax's reduced presence at PMA 2010 is a far cry, however, from Canon and Leica which decided to forego the show entirely. The industry trade event has suffered this year from a combination of the bad economy and the unpopular switch in venues from Las Vegas, NV to Anaheim.

Sources told PDN Gear Guide that Pentax had actually decided before Canon not to have a booth at PMA 2010 but managed to keep the info quiet until days before the show started.

(Japanese website DC Watch Impress first reported that Pentax would not have a booth at PMA 2010. The news was also picked up by 1001 Noisy Cameras in a translated form.)
