Sony Says Its Developing High Definition (AVCHD) Camcorder With Interchangeable Lens System

May 11, 2010
Along with announcing its compact NEX-3 and NEX-5 mirrorless, interchangeable lens cameras this morning, Sony says its developing a new AVCHD high-definition camcorder featuring an interchangeable lens system.

The camcorder, which will be available this Fall, will be compatible with “E Mount” interchangeable lenses developed for the NEX-3 and NEX-5, as well as many “A Mount” interchangeable lenses used by the existing Sony "Alpha" DSLR camera lineup via a mount adapter.

The camcorder will also be equipped with the same “Exmor” APS HD CMOS sensor used in the NEX-5 and NEX-3 models. Sony says more details about the camcorder will be released in the coming months.
