CANON PIXMA PRO9000 |
Canon’s PIXMA Pro9000 builds on Canon’s reputation for high-quality
desktop inkjet printers. It holds eight individual 13ml dye-based
ink tanks, including separate red and green ink, to achieve a
wide color gamut. There are two separate paper paths: the top media
feed holds sheets for making prints as small as 4 inches wide,
supporting borderless printing on a range of paper sizes, while a
front feed makes it possible to print on heavyweight media (up to
1.2mm thick). Two plug-ins—one for Adobe Photoshop and one for
Canon’s Digital Photo Pro (DPP)—are included. The software allows
for the printing of RAW images without the need to convert files
manually, for printing up to 48 image variations with different
color balances, brightness and contrast on one sheet of paper for
comparison. Built-in connectivity is via a USB 2.0 port, or through
a PictBridge port located on the front of the printer.
This is a dye-based printer, so you may be
wondering how print longevity compares with pigment-ink printers.
To best understand how Canon determines the estimated longevity of
prints made with the PIXMA Pro9000 (up to 100 years when stored in
an album), visit their Web site. Another excellent resource for
independent longevity testing is www.wilhelm-research.com.
Retail price: $499
