PHASE ONE P45

Sept 18, 2007

The cream of the Phase One crop, the P45 features 39 megapixels (the highest in its class), a 12-stop dynamic range and ISO 50 to 400. It captures 35 frames per minute and has an exposure time at about 1/10,000th of a second to several minutes.
Portability is key with P-backs, each one able to capture to a Compact Flash or Microdrive card and be tethered to a computer via a FireWire connector. The backs’ Secure Storage System checks every CF card inserted, making sure its integrity is intact before shooting, thus preventing lost images. ISO, white balance and file format can be set directly on the back, while a 2.2-inch LCD screen displays clear images, even in bright sunlight. The P family’s rechargeable lithium ion battery lasts about 250 captures (up to four hours) and the backs can also be powered externally through the FireWire cable for continuous shooting. P-backs work with medium format cameras from Contax, Hasselblad and Mamiya, as well as 4 x 5 cameras from Arca Swiss, Cambo, Rollei, Linhof, Toyo, Sinar, Plaubel and Horseman, making P-backs a flexible option.
