Objects of Desire: Tenba Black Label Camera BagsJuly 2, 2009 By Dan Havlik
Though it's a high-end line built with quality materials, Tenba's new Black Label bags aren't exactly extravagant in cost with prices ranging from $115 to $180. That's a good value considering these bags are made with a tough ballistic nylon exterior that's foam-laminated to protect them from water, stains and rips while maintaining a slim profile and a classic shape. Other nice touches include the handsome, perforated leather trim on the handle, shoulder strap and edge of the front flap of the bag. Meanwhile, the strap is made from sturdy seatbelt webbing that snaps on using a solid, steel triangle D-ring. Also, all the stress points are reinforced so you can use these bags extensively without worrying about wear and tear. The matte-finish YKK zippers are also a good choice as are the solid plastic Duraflex clips. The Tenba logo is etched onto a metal plate that's fastened to the front flap with hex machine bolts. Perhaps best of all is that while the Black Label line is Tenba's flagship collection, the bags look tasteful and understated thanks to the elegant all-black design. There's a similar, tasteful and efficient layout inside the bags which optimizes space for camera bodies, lenses and flashes. Right now, there are five models in Tenba's Black Label line— three slim photo satchels (S, M & L) and two full-sized camera bags. The bags feature removable, padded dividers and an array of pockets and organizers for stowing away small gear like memory card readers and portable hard drives. Some of our favorite touches are the color-coded clear media card pockets: green for empty cards and red for filled ones.
