Sony A700
For consumers who are interested in a DSLR with pro-level features, but not a pro-level price, Sony has expanded on its Alpha offering with the release of the Sony DSLR-A700. The 12.2-megapixel model features a lightweight, dust- and moisture-resistant magnesium alloy body on the outside, as well as image stabilization and a newly developed BIONZ™ processing engine on the inside to reduce picture noise and process pictures at high speeds. Photo enthusiasts who value creativity will enjoy fiddling with the camera’s 14 creative styles—which include night view, autumn leaves or vivid. The captured images can be viewed on the A700’s hi-res, 3-inch LCD screen or through a dynamic photo slideshow using the camera’s HDMI output for connection to HDTV sets. Naturally, the company recommends the “PhotoTV HD mode” on the Sony BRAVIA LCD HDTV for optimum image viewing.

Retail price: $1,400
