Objects of Desire: Camera Armor ExtremeMarch 2, 2009 By Dan Havlik
Extreme's weather-sealed case is partially transparent and lets you adjust your DSLR's buttons, control dials, zoom control, and pop-up flash while shielding your camera from the elements. The inside of Extreme is padded with rubber providing full mechanical shock protection in case of a drop. There's also lens protection with two custom cases designed to fit a range of wide and long zoom lens. When you're heading to an assignment with your DSLR, a Lens Transport End Cap seals and locks the lens to protect it during travel. There's also a filter sealing system that comes with a standard anti-UV coated glass non-polarizing filter. Meanwhile, a clever strap and tripod mount will help keep your camera closer to your body to further shield it from unwanted dings. While the Camera Armor Extreme Body Armor is custom designed to fit five different Nikon and Canon digital SLRs, they're all consumer or prosumer models at this point. Camera Armor expects to introduce custom Extreme cases for professional DSLRs in the near future.
