Canon Releases Firmware for EOS 7D to Correct Ghosting Problem

Nov 5, 2009
True to its word, Canon has released a firmware update for its EOS 7D digital SLR to correct a problem where photos captured in the camera's burst mode can bare traces of the previous image. The phenomenon, known as "ghosting," is only noticeable in images shot at less than optimal exposure, Canon has said.

The new firmware, called Version 1.1.0, is available for free download from Canon's support site. You can access it by clicking here.

Canon's details on the new firmware are below.

"Firmware Version 1.1.0 incorporates the following fixes. Corrects a phenomenon that in images captured by continuous shooting, and under certain conditions, barely noticeable traces of the immediately preceding frame may be visible.

Firmware Version 1.1.0 is for cameras with firmware up to version 1.0.9. If the camera's firmware is already version 1.1.0, it is not necessary to update the firmware."
