Is a New Massively-Megapixeled Sony on the Horizon?

Gadget-freaks across the Internet have begun to report on a series of ads found in international magazines that detail a new Sony camera based around the 24.6 megapixel sensor the company announced earlier this year.

Normally I don't put a lot of stock in 'net rumors,' however, the camera's specs seem right on target with what we'd expect. These ads have also been reported by a number of readers on a number of different sites.

The specs on the print ad call for a 24.6 megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor, dual Bionz image processors, "intelligent preview" (I'm not sure what that means), 100% viewfinder, a 3,921,000 pixel LCD screen, nine-point AF sensors and 5fps continuous shooting, plus SteadyShot—the company's image-stabilizaiton technology.

Called the Alpha 900, this will definitely be an interesting camera. When and if it is announced it will shake-up things in the semi-pro photographic space.

Look out Canon and Nikon, someone else is gunning for top dog.
