Leica S2

The British Journal of Photography is reporting that Leica has finally confirmed the pricing on its much anticpated Leica S2 Pro. According to the BJP, the 37.5MP DSLR/Medium Format camera S2 will sell for a suggested retail price of £15,996, which roughly translates to $26,199.

This is a breaking story and we have not yet received word from Leica's U.S. division on what the official U.S. pricing will be for the S2 Pro. At least one U.S.-based retailer, Dale Photo & Digital, is already listing the camera at $22,995. (Thanks to PDN reader Thorsten Overgaard for finding this.)

As we said, this is a breaking story and we have not had a chance to sort through the over 80 entries we received in our "Leica S2 - Guess the Price Contest" to narrow down a winner based on the official U.S. pricing.

According to the BJP, the Leica S2 will be available in the United Kingdom in October, which is two months later than Leica's previous tentative summer date.
