Fifty megapixels.

Let that sink in a second—fifty megapixels. That's the resolution of the new Hasselblad H3D-II50 which boasts a massive Kodak-designed 36x48mm sensor. This is an astounding amount of pixels and it's another salvo in the ongoing megapixel war which seemed like it was going to stabilize around the 30MP level.

For the photographer looking for the ultimate in pixel count, and a hell of a Hasselblad to go along with it, the H3D system is an incredible new tool. The system has been designed to work like an integrated "35mm" camera, yet with the interchangeable components that are the hallmark of the company's medium-format system.

The camera can be shot tethered or untethered, with a variety of viewfinders and lenses, and can shoot to the DNG format for versatile file handling.

Of course, the system costs more than some houses, but when you need a big sensor—you need a big sensor.
