Object of Desire: Ewa-Marine U-BXP

EWA Marine UBXP Say goodbye to big, bulky underwater housings for your digital SLR with the U-BXP from Ewa-Marine. Resembling an industrial strength Ziploc bag with handles, the U-BXP is made of tough double-laminated PVC that protects pro DSLRs above and below the water to a depth of 155 feet. So along with being great for getting shots – for example – of a coral reef while snorkeling, you can also feel safe using the U-BXP while bobbing up and down in the water or while hanging out the side of a boat.

Because the U-BXP's housing is made of flexible PVC, you can operate your camera's controls through touch rather than by fiddling with a series of exterior plastic buttons. The bag-like design of the U-BXP also ensures that the pressure inside the housing stays the same as the surrounding water, making "O" rings unnecessary.

Along with being designed for pro bodies and lenses (up to 72mm) from Canon, Nikon, Hasselblad and others, the U-BXP also has room for an external flash which fits into a special section on top of the housing. The entire apparatus is sealed together with a pair of non-corrosive, seawater resistant clamping rails which are locked by three screw-knobs. The housing ships with a supply of CD5 silica gel packs which prevent "wick" moisture from accumulating in the interior. Ewa-Marine is distributed in the U.S. by RTS Inc.
